Documentation of the Dupliporter fromBlazar by The League of Imaginary Scientists
The Office Gallery, Huntington Beach, CA, 2006
Concept, Software (Isadora)
For this installation, Dr. Schleidan was sucked into a black hole known as Blazar, and continued to do research there. By a fluke in the fabric of space-time, visitors could communicate visually with Dr. Schleidan, and send him objects through the Dupliporter to aid in his studies and survival.
The Dupliporter, made from a silver-painted barbecue, could photograph small objects, composite them into a ‘black hole animation’ and send them over a network to project into Dr. Schleidan’s lab. Gallery visitors could look down a tube into a projection of Dr. Schleidan’s lab as he communicated via visuals and text with the outside world.
